Religion - Just Another Competition?

February 10th, 2008 by

Why are there so many ‘disagreements’ in our world that are based on religious issues? How contradictory is that?

Taking part‘ in a religion means to compete. Why do you believe in Allah and not in Jesus? Why are you Jewish and not Christian?

Why are there so many religions? Seems like the terms ‘being reasonable’, ‘loving your neighbor’, ‘not killing each other’ and ‘doing good’ are not that obvious at all. Are these terms really a matter of opinion? Do you really have to invent a completely new religion instead of amending rules to an existing list? Wouldn’t that be easier?

It’s like in working life. There, people want to be the best to get more money. But why do you need ‘THE religion‘? What’s your benefit? Unless you’re a priest or something similar you won’t get paid. Believing is just uncompensated labor. So it can’t be about money then. But what’s the purpose of this competition then? The purpose of every people creating their own, better, more unique religion? Doesn’t this just make the whole thing even more implausible?

Why not just believe in ‘GOOD’ rather than ‘GOD’?
