Question: No Rules For Adam & Eve?

Why didn’t God give the 10 commandments to Adam and Eve?
If they had been the first people on earth, they should have been the first ones to live by these rules and pass them on. Was this an error in reasoning by God?

The only reason we need commandments is because Adam and Eve proved we are not without sin. Before that it was innocent until proven guilty!

Maybe God thought that they won’t need it in the first place.
