Maybe he realized praying to a statue was a bit ridiculous looking and was tired of his children sitting in front of inanimate objects for hours on end…uh oh.

When the 10 commandments were written it was more of a social and political guide to the masses written by the elites of the time.
Belief in various Gods were restricted due to the power the clerics ultimately had over their believers.
It is simply a political tool.

I would have to agree with Debbie. God probably didn’t want people to spend so much time worshiping an inanimate object. Now I am off to play my xbox.

That’s right, they used religion as control and political tool. And they controlled the idols. Every church has some inanimate objects to worship such as crosses, pictures of Jesus etc.

God was not jealous. He just doesn’t want us to look silly talking to a statue who wont answer us with any questions we have.

It was a way for the Church to maintain control and power.
